Profile
Juan Pablo Nieto joined Pérez-Llorca in 2020. Before joining, Juan Pablo worked in two Spanish firms where he served as manager of the Procedural Law, Criminal Law and Arbitration area. Prior to this, he prepared for the competitive state exams for Judges and Prosecutors.
Studies:
- 2008 Degree in Law with a Diploma in International Relations, Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid (ICADE)
- 2006 Law, Development and Diplomacy course, University of Georgetown in Washington DC
He speaks English, German and Spanish.
Experience
Juan Pablo has advised on litigation and arbitration in a wide variety of matters in the civil, criminal and commercial areas, before courts of all instances and jurisdictional orders, including cassation appeals before the Supreme Court and appeals for legal protection before the Constitutional Court.
In particular, in the field of Insurance and Reinsurance, Juan Pablo has provided pre-litigation advice to Spanish and foreign insurers, and has also been involved in various liability claims (D&O, professional, product liability and surety), financial lines (challenging corporate resolutions, unfair competition and contract law actions, etc.), large claims, resolution of coverage disputes and recovery actions.
He also handled important cases involving claims for lost profits arising from COVID-19 restrictions.
Academic and publishing collaborations
Juan Pablo is an assistant lecturer at the IE Law School. In addition, he has published several articles and papers related to the insurance sector. His most recent ones include:
