Nicolás Joined Pérez-Llorca as an associate lawyer in 2023, as part of the firm’s international strategy, and is based in Lisbon.

His professional practice is focused on the development of investment projects, particularly in the financial services, energy & infrastructure industries, undertaking active participation throughout the structural, transactional and litigation aspects of different kinds of investments. During his first four years of professional experience in Colombia, he structured and led litigation strategies regarding liability of the State, while advised (and represented) several investors on procurement, privatisation procedures and regulatory matters in a wide array of industries including financial services, mining, energy, construction, and mobility.

Experience

He has provided advice during all stages of different kinds of investment projects to the key financial institutions and sponsors of public-service-related infrastructures in Iberia, Latin America, and Africa, mainly in the financial services, renewable energy, water supply, waste treatment, healthcare, motorways, railways, ports, mining, real estate, and construction industries, having undertaken active participation on the assessment of risks, structuring and execution of such projects.

He has advised on the structuring and negotiation of over 100 infrastructure-related and financing agreements, including concession agreements, purchase agreements, facilities & security agreements, subscription agreements, EPC agreements, O&M agreements, and PPA Agreements. He has significant experience in restructuring financing schemes to optimise the economic performance of different kinds of business groups operating in several jurisdictions and has further assisted several sponsors on the preparation of binding offers for the acquisition/development of infrastructures in public and private tenders in Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands, Colombia, Angola, and Mozambique.
