Gonzalez Calvillo, December 15th, 2023 – GC acted as counsel to Mexico’s Grupo Alfar, owner of more than 250 clothing and apparel retail stores, including Cuidado con el Perro, Malayerba Optima and Almacenes Garcia, in the multi-million dollar acquisition of C&A’s Mexican operations from COFRA Holding AG. C&A’s business includes a strategic alliance with Bradesco, which allows the issuance of consumer loans and credit cards.
C&A owns and operates 80 retail outlets in Mexico, with most of these stores located within shopping malls throughout the country, including Baja California, Puebla, and the State of Mexico.
The transaction further required the negotiation and execution of an acquisition financing facility by a syndicate of 3 leading banks in Mexico.
Finally, our team assisted in obtaining the favorable and unconditional approval of the Mexican Federal Antitrust Commission.
