Profile

Patricio leads the firm’s merger control front in the Antitrust and Competition practice area. He has over 16 years of experience advising and representing domestic and foreign companies, with special focus on regulatory matters, obtaining approvals in complex pre-merger filings before the Mexican Antitrust Commission (COFECE), among others.

Studies:

  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) with merit, in Competition Law, King’s College London
  • Law degree (J.D. equivalent) with highest honors, Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City

His working languages are Spanish and English.

Experience

Patricio has obtained pre-merger clearances in a wide range of industries, including agrochemicals, agricultural products, personal hygiene and care products, pharmaceuticals, carbonated beverages, bottled water, supermarkets, hospitality and timeshares, entertainment, textiles, software development, franchises, auto parts, industrial products, financial services, renewable energy, and services and processes in the oil and gas industries. He also advises companies in investigations involving cartel behavior and abuse of dominance cases.

He also advises companies in corporate and commercial law matters. His international experience includes working as foreign associate at the New York office of Shearman & Sterling between 2011 and 2012.

Academic and Publishing collaborations

Patricio has been a professor at the School of Law of the Universidad Anáhuac. Likewise, he’s a former professor of the Introduction to Legal Studies course at the Irish Institute. Additionally, he has contributed to the following publications:
