Gonzalez Calvillo, April 5th, 2024 – On March 26th, 2024, the decree by which several provisions of the General Law of Negotiable Instruments and Credit Transactions (Ley General de Títulos y Operaciones de Crédito) and the General Law of Credit Organizations and Auxiliary Activities (Ley General de Organizaciones y Actividades Auxiliares del Crédito) were amended, supplemented, and repealed (the “Amendment”) was published in the Mexican Federal Official Gazette (Diario Oficial de la Federación).
The purpose of the Amendment is to acknowledge and regulate the use of technological tools to issue, subscribe, endorse, guarantee, transmit and/or deliver, as applicable, negotiable instruments via any electronic, optical, or other technological means.
