GC ALERT | Mexico’s Federal Labor Law amended entitling employees an increase on Vacation Days

01/01/1970

On December 27th, 2022, an executive order approving amendments to articles 76 and 78 of Mexico’s Federal Labor Law was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. These amendments relate to vacation provisions and shall become effective as of January 1st, 2023.

By enacting these amendments, employees who have worked for over a year will enjoy an annual period of paid vacation of twelve continuous working days. This period will increase in the following years by two days until twenty are reached.

At Gonzalez Calvillo, we are currently undertaking analysis and providing advice to several companies to set up the conditions and strategy whereby they can implement these latest amendments on a timely manner.
