Pérez-Llorca today announced that Santiago Villanueva has joined the firm as a partner of the Social Security practice in its Mexico City office along with two lawyers, marking a significant step in the consolidation of a team specialising in this key area for national and multinational companies in Mexico.
With more than 25 years of experience in the sector, Santiago is a leader in the strategy and defence of matters related to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (INFONAVIT). Throughout his career, he has worked on a wide range of matters, including issuance and collection, company classification, occupational risks, affiliation, audits, and granting financial benefits and housing loans, among others. In addition, he has led important compliance and consultancy initiatives for companies requiring specialised Social Security advice.
Over the course of his career, the new partner at Pérez-Llorca has been a member of various organisations, working as the Social Security Committee Coordinator at the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa (ANADE), as well as being a part of the global organisation Ius Laboris and the Mexican Pro Bono Centre, along with other institutions, foundations and NGOs. He has also complemented his professional and pro bono work with extensive academic activities, lecturing on Social Security Law at La Salle Centro Universitario and Tax Procedural Law at the Universidad Tecnológica de México.
