Infrastructure and Project Finance

We represent financial institutions, governments, Mexican and foreign development banks, multilateral organisms, suppliers, contractors, and sponsors in connection with project development (e.g., design, construction, operation) and financing transactions across a spectrum of sectors, including power, oil and gas, water, roads, airports, ports, railways and telecommunications.

The firm also provides general legal advice regarding the compliance with specific laws and regulations, including regulatory and administrative aspects intrinsic to projects, including requirements related with concessions and permits, real estate, environment, and social impact. For these purposes, we create multidisciplinary teams involving more than one practice area of the firm when required by the particularities of the project, including the sector or industry to which it belongs.

Energy, Oil, Gas & Electricity

We are considered one of the preeminent firms with considerable experience and expertise in the energy sector in Mexico. We represent a comprehensive spectrum of oil and gas clients across the complete value chain, including upstream, midstream, and downstream.

Our experience includes participating in the leading and most complex M&A, joint ventures, project finance and development, including infrastructure, in the areas of pipelines, petrochemicals, natural gas distribution, transportation and storage, LNG facilities, power generation, IPPs, solar power, cogeneration, EPC and PPP matters. As well as public and private bids and regulatory, permitting, compliance, environmental and social impact matters across the industry. Also, we are involved in some of the largest and most challenging power projects in Mexico, including conventional and renewable power, representing sponsors, developers, EPC and O&M contractors, offtakers, development and private local and international banks, investment funds and other strategic investors.

Government Procurement & Public Bids

Our team has developed experience in government procurement and public bids by understanding the framework and regulatory challenges that private sector companies face by engaging with the government.

Each year, federal and local governments spend a great amount of their budget in goods and services -including public works- which undoubtedly yields business opportunities for contractors. Engagement with these entities presents an ever-changing statutory and regulatory procurement challenge, with unique processes and consequences, including preparation for public bid procedures.

Our experts are regularly involved in matters that entail public policies, governmental teaming arrangements and PPP type agreements, bid and proposal preparation, appeals, outsourcing schemes, privatization, among others.
