Profile

Hugo joined Pérez-Llorca in 2024, as a lawyer of the Lisbon office’s Tax practice with the aim of providing regular legal and tax advice to individual and corporate clients, with a particular focus on domestic and international investments, tax structuring of M&A transactions, corporate and financial restructuring and domestic and international tax planning.

Prior to joining Pérez-Llorca, he was a lawyer at an Iberian law firm, a leading Portuguese law firm and a tax consultant at a Big Four consultancy firm.

Studies:

  • 2021 Participation in the Postgraduate Programme in Corporate Finance
  • 2020 Programme on Negotiation (PON) Global at Harvard Law School
  • 2015 Master’s degree in Tax Law, Faculty of Law of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa
  • 2012 Degree in Law, Faculty of Law of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa

He speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Experience

Hugo provides tax advice on a range of domestic and cross-border financial transactions, including investment transactions, the structuring of M&A operations and corporate and financial restructurings in various sectors spanning financial services, the real estate sector and investment funds.

He also provides regular tax advice to various financial institutions (particularly banks, management companies, insurance companies and ICOs), national companies and multinational groups from other sectors.

Moreover, he is also well-versed in advising individual clients on national and international tax planning in the context of wealth management, succession planning and asset restructuring, as well as working on various tax litigation cases.
