Profile
José Ángel joined Pérez-Llorca in 2014 after initiating his professional career at a Spanish law firm. In 2018, José Ángel worked as an international associate at the New York office of an international law firm, where he took part in M&A and capital markets transactions, both within the US and internationally, with a specific focus on Latin American cases.
Studies:
- 2018 LL.M. (Master of Laws), Columbia University, New York. Honors: Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar in recognition of superior academic achievement
- 2011 Preparation for competitive public exam for the position of Land Registrar (Registrador de la Propiedad)
- 2008 Degree in Law with a diploma in Business Administration, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE)
He speaks Spanish and English.
Experience
José Ángel specialises in advising national and international clients on all types of corporate and real estate matters and transactions, including the structuring of real estate investments and divestments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, the purchase and transfer of real estate assets, sale & leasebacks, leases, real estate developments, and forward funding, as well as transactions related to the hotel and leisure sector.
José Ángel has also advised national and international investment funds, REITs, insurance companies, developers and financial institutions.
Academic and publishing collaborations
José Ángel also has experience in academia, having taught on the Master’s Degree for Access to the Legal Profession at the Universidad Carlos III (in particular, the module on Real Estate Law) and on the “Master’s degree in International, Foreign Trade and International Relationships” (in particular, the “Negotiating Complex M&A” course) at ISDE.
Likewise, he writes articles for the financial and legal press. His latest publication is an opinion piece in Metros2magazine, entitled “El seguro de título es la última tendencia en grandes operaciones inmobiliarias” (April 2022).
