Competition Update. Calculating the amount of CNMC fines after the Supreme Court Decision of 29 January 2015

The Decision of 29 January 2015 annulled the methodology followed by the CNMC in order to calculate the amount of the fines for firms which infringe competition law. Subsequent to this Decision, the CNMC has continued to impose very significant fines which in 2016 reached a total value of 227 million euros.

Oriol Armengol, Partner of the firm, will open the session and then hand the floor to Javier García-Verdugo, Economic Adviser to the Chairman of the CNMC and head of the support team of the Council for the quantification of the fines, who will explain how the sanctions are calculated and what we should expect in the future.
