On 25 September, Pérez-Llorca will host a one day seminar together with Arup under the title “Refurbishment, now or never”. The seminar will take place at the firm’s headquarters at Paseo de la Castellana, 50.

After the introductory remarks by Mark Chown, Director of Arup for Spain, and José Ramón de Hoces, Partner of the Public Law practice area at Pérez-Llorca and a State Advocate on leave, Ana Gomendio López de Asiaín, General Director for Housing and Renovation in the Region of Madrid and Manager of IVIMA, the Housing Institute of Madrid, will open up the seminar.

The presentations will begin with “Business model for refurbishment through a contractor’s eyes and energy efficiency” given by Valentín Alfaya Arias, Quality and Environmental Director at Ferrovial. Following his talk, Vicente Estebaranz, Partner of the Public Law practice and Director of Planning and Environment at Pérez-Llorca, will speak on “The scope of the Ministry of Development’s Law on Regeneration of Urban Areas”. This presentation will be followed by Luis Vidal, Architect and Founding Partner of luis vidal + arquitectos, who will give a talk on “The regeneration project, new perspectives and work methods for planners and designers”. Ignacio Fernández Solla, Associate Director and Manager of Arup-Spain Façade, will conclude the round of presentations with “New models and requirements for viable refurbishment in the current market: international cases”.

After a short break, a work group titled “Motors, barriers and new models and instruments for financing and development in refurbishment” will begin. The participants will be Miguel Ángel García Tamargo, Director of Portfolio and Expansion Business Area at Iberdrola Inmobiliaria; Valentín Alfaya Arias, Quality and Environmental Director at Ferrovial; Juan Diego Carrasco Hervas, Manager of Real Estate Management at Mutua Madrileña; Stuart W. McDonald, Real Estate Director of Axia Real Estate SOCIMI and Luis Vidal, architect and Founding Partner of luis vidal + arquitectos. Ramón Rodríguez Cabezón, Associate Director of Sustainability and Energy Consulting Leading at Arup, will moderate the debate.
