The last few years have seen important developments in consumer protection in the banking sector. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that a number of sentences passed by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) have not only had a direct effect on the court proceedings currently being processed in Spain, but have also led to several amendments to the Spanish legislative framework. In particular, the Aziz sentence (C-415/11) deserves a special mention.
This seminar organised by Pérez-Llorca will address these changes, specifically the current and future changes being made to Spanish Law, through an analysis of the most relevant issues already dealt with by the CJEU or which are currently still pending before the CJEU.
Javier Rodríguez Pellitero, Secretary-General of the AEB and state lawyer on leave of absence will be participating in the session and will speak about ‘Recent developments and the future of Spanish consumer protection law in the banking sector’. After this presentation, Juan Manuel Rodríguez Cárcamo, partner at Pérez-Llorca and state lawyer on leave of absence, will cover the topic of ‘Mortgage consumer protection and EU law’. Javier García Marrero, Pérez-Llorca Counsel and Commercial court judge on leave of absence, will moderate the conference.
