May, June & July 2024

Brussels Insights

We present the last edition of Pérez-Llorca´s Brussels Insights 2024 before the summer break.

On this number, covering the months of May to July, we have focused on:

  1. The European Commission’s Consultation on a new procedure to ensure compliance with the Aarhus Convention (access to justice in environmental matters) in the field of State aid;
  2. the judgment of the General Court of 17 July 2024, Bytedance v. Commission, ruling on the first action for annulment against a gatekeeper designation decision under the Digital Markets Act (the “DMA”);
  3. the judgment of the CJEU of 4 July 2024, Caixabank and others (Contrôle de transparence dans l’action collective), which defines the limits of collective actions and the review of transparency in consumer protection matters; and

the main Regulations and Directives published in the Official Journal of the European Union between May and July 2024, from the Artificial Intelligence Act, to the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, or the so-called Anti-money laundering legislative package, among others.
