Antonio Camacho, Law graduate and Public Prosecutor since 1991, has held important positions in public administration in recent years. In 2004 he was appointed Homeland Security Secretary, a position which he held until 2011 when he became Minister of the Interior until the end of the 9th parliamentary term.
Elena Veleiro has a Law and Economics degree from Universidad Carlos III in Madrid. In 2008, at the age of 27, she became a State Advocate, being the highest ranking in her graduating class. Her first destination after passing the State exam was León, after which she worked before the administrative courts in Madrid. Then, from December 2010 to May 2013, she worked before the administrative courtrooms of the Supreme Court of Justice in Madrid and was the Legal Advice Coordinator provided by the State Advocate Office for the public entity ADIF (Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias). In May 2013, she joined this public company as its Legal Director.
In addition to her experience, Veleiro has also participated in international secondments for State Advocates in Brussels (Permanent Representation of Spain REPER Española e Instituciones Comunitarias) and in Luxembourg (Court of Justice of the European Union and other EU institutions) as well as her national secondment in the CMT (Comisión del Mercado de las Telecomunicaciones).
Veleiro will help to strengthen the Litigation, Public & Regulatory practice at Pérez-Llorca. Her appointment adds to the recent incorporation of the judge on leave of absence Javier García Marrero who joined Pérez-Llorca in June as Counsel for Litigation and Arbitration.
“Her experience as a State Lawyer with different responsibilities and her management of the legal advice to ADIF make Veleiro a well-rounded lawyer that I am sure will add to the services that we offer our clients,” stated José Ramón de Hoces.
