Pérez-Llorca appoints Manuel de Abreu Castelo Branco as Litigation and Arbitration partner in Lisbon

Castelo Branco joins the firm’s Lisbon office, where he will lead this practice in Portugal

Pérez-Llorca boosts its litigation and arbitration capabilities in Lisbon. The firm has appointed Manuel de Abreu Castelo Branco as partner in charge of the Litigation and Arbitration practice in Portugal, which will strengthen the firm’s presence in the country.

Manuel de Abreu Castelo Branco has 20 years of experience advising national and international companies, financial and insurance companies, as well as private equity funds on their domestic and cross-border litigation and arbitration in Portugal and in different Portuguese-speaking countries.

His practice has focused on civil and commercial litigation, in particular advising companies on a wide range of commercial disputes, including shareholdings and mergers and acquisitions. He also advises clients on criminal and regulatory litigation and compliance issues, such as anti-corruption and anti-money laundering. In addition, he has extensive experience in contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency matters.

A graduate in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, with a postgraduate degree in Arbitration from the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Castelo Branco also holds a postgraduate degree in White Collar Crime from the Faculty of Law of the Universidade de Coimbra. He is a member of APA (the Portuguese Arbitration Association) and Forum Penal (the Portuguese Association of Criminal Lawyers).
