Although the appointment of a General Counsel with broad management powers is common in large international firms, it is more novel in the Spanish market. With this step, Pérez-Llorca intends to deepen the institutionalisation and formation of a professionalised management team, which began years ago with the appointments of partner Constanza Vergara as Corporate Director, María Luisa de Landecho as CFO and Rafael Madero as CIO, as well as with the growth of professional departments of HR, Communications, Marketing and Business Development, CSR, Knowledge Management, Finance, Information Technology, Innovation, among others.
This management model is intended to allow the firm’s partners and lawyers to concentrate on developing their practices and handling legal matters entrusted to them by clients, while maximising efficiency, innovation and professionalism in internal management matters.
