Pérez-Llorca announced today the hiring of Marta Núñez as a new Tax partner of the firm. Núñez, who has developed her career in the Tax department of a Big Four firm in Spain, is an expert in VAT, as well as in energy sector and environmental taxation.
Núñez will be joining Pérez-Llorca’s Tax team, which currently consists of six partners and more than 30 lawyers. She will work in coordination with the rest of the firm’s transactional teams, opening up an area where specialisation is essential.
Núñez has worked with leading Spanish and international business groups on a wide range of projects, from preparing reports on the VAT taxation of these companies’ businesses and their value chain, and the impact of regulatory, academic and case law changes on these businesses, to participating in M&A transactions and providing advice on taxes in the areas of energy and the environment.
A graduate in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, she complemented her studies with a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the Centro de Estudios Garrigues, as well as a Master’s Degree in International Trade from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
In the words of Clara Jiménez, partner and head of Pérez-Llorca’s Tax practice area: “Marta’s arrival is in line with the growth and specialisation that we offer our clients at the firm. Firstly, it responds to their needs in areas where a degree of specialisation is fundamental, such as VAT, and secondly, it strengthens our energy and environmental taxation practice at a time when changes and new taxation in this sector appear on a regular basis. These are areas in which our clients need highly specialised advice and knowledge of very complex sectors because this taxation is very closely linked to their business models. Marta’s expertise complements the firm’s Energy practice and will enable us to better serve our clients as she brings her knowledge and experience and works cross-functionally with the firm’s various teams.”
