Pérez-Llorca will not practice North American law. The foreign office will advise the firm’s clients on the Spanish law aspects of their transactions and will additionally redouble its business development efforts throughout the entire Continent. This office will also serve as a gateway to the Latin American market, both by accompanying Spanish clients and by working with local clients and firms. Pérez-Llorca recently saw the excellence of its work with clients recognised at the Chambers Europe Awards for Excellence 2015, having been granted the Spain Client Service Award.
The opening of this new headquarters on American soil is in line with the firm’s international growth strategy, which Pérez-Llorca set in motion last December with the launch of its foreign office in London. “Given that the move came about due to London being the financial capital of Europe, New York presents itself as the central hub from which to work with both the U.S. and Latin American markets. We believe that New York was the missing part of the puzzle, after the opening of the foreign office in London, to cover both the English and the Spanish-speaking markets”, remarked Pedro Pérez-Llorca, Senior Partner of the firm.
Pérez-Llorca’s New York headquarters, located in Park Avenue, will begin operations in the fourth quarter of this year. The foreign office will be headed by Iván Delgado, partner of Pérez-Llorca’s Corporate practice area, who will relocate to the capital with a small team from the firm. According to Delgado: “We are receiving more and more requests from U.S. and Latin American companies and we believe that moving closer to them will serve to boost the excellence of our work and we will be able to be in closer proximity to our clients. At the same time, we are seeing a surge in our clients´ interests in the North American and Latin American markets, and Pérez-Llorca would like to be able to accompany them in their business ventures”.
Iván Delgado has a degree in Law from Carlos III University of Madrid and graduated with a Masters in Legal Practice from the same University in 1999. He joined Pérez-Llorca in 1999 and made Partner in 2007. Delgado specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and general company and corporate matters. He regularly advises national and international groups on large scale, transnational and multi-sector corporate transactions. He has lectured on Commercial Law at Carlos III University of Madrid, ICAM and for the Masters in Legal Consultancy at IE Business School in Madrid. He is currently a lecturer for the Masters in Access to the Practice of Law at Carlos III University of Madrid.
