Pérez-Llorca announced today the hiring of Eduardo Arbizu as a new Of Counsel for the firm. Arbizu is one of the most respected professionals in the Spanish legal field, with ample experience providing legal advice on major corporate and financial transactions, as well as litigation and regulatory matters.
Within the firm, he will assume responsibility for the handling of major cases for the main Spanish business groups, as well as for the firm’s international clients. He will also collaborate on tasks related to the cohesion and quality of the legal positions held by Pérez-Llorca, the design of innovative solutions and the development of the firm’s professional practice.
The hiring comes as part of Pérez-Llorca’s resolute commitment to the growth of its teams through the incorporation of high-profile talent. Over the last few months, the firm has announced highly significant additions to practice areas including Insurance, Real Estate, Commercial Law, and Litigation and Arbitration.
With over 30 years of experience, Arbizu is a State Advocate on leave of absence and has held positions of responsibility in major Spanish and international financial institutions.
In his professional career, he has been Secretary General and Legal Counsel at Barclays España and Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Commercial Banking at Barclays in continental Europe, a period after which he joined BBVA, where he held different high-level positions within the bank’s legal department such as Head of Legal Services, Head of Legal Services, Tax Consulting, Audit & Compliance, Global Head of Legal & Compliance and Global Head of Regulation & Internal Control.
