29/09/2015

Pérez-Llorca has brought in as a partner of the Corporate practice area José María de Paz, who will strengthen the Corporate team at Perez-Llorca´s headquarters in Barcelona.

De Paz has extensive experience in Corporate Law and has practiced law in prestigious national and English-speaking law firms, as well as in multinational companies. De Paz has broad experience advising on takeover bid transactions, the creation of joint ventures, internationalisation processes and transactions in regulated sectors, as well on all types of national and international investments and project finance.

For Pedro Pérez-Llorca, Senior Partner of the firm, “it is an honour to have a professional of José María de Paz’s standing in our team. I am certain that together with Gerard Serra and Sergio Agüera, partners of the Corporate practice area, and Ana Ribó, partner of the Litigation and Arbitration practice area, they will form a team that will strengthen Pérez-Llorca’s Barcelona office”.

As a Doctor of Law from University of Zaragoza, he holds an LL.M from Harvard Law School and completed the General Management Programme at IESE Business School. He is the Secretary of various Administrative Boards and of the Board of Trustees of a number of foundations. In 2015 he was recognised by the American publication Best Lawyers® in the Corporate and M&A area.

Gerard Serra, partner and head of Pérez-Llorca´s Barcelona office, has said: “bringing in Jose María will strengthen the corporate transactions that we advise on from Barcelona. Pérez-Llorca´s office in Ciudad Condal is experiencing significant growth, which will now be reinforced with the arrival of de Paz”.

The arrival of de Paz coincides with the opening of Pérez-Llorca´s new office in New York. As of this month, Ivan Delgado, partner of the Corporate practice area of Pérez-Llorca, will work in the firm´s new headquarters, which will not practice American law. The new office, in line with the firm’s plan for growth and internationalisation, will advise the firm´s clients on the Spanish law aspects of their transactions and will redouble the firm’s business development efforts throughout the whole continent.
