José Suárez joined Pérez-Llorca in 2007 and was named partner in January 2018.

Experience

With more than 15 years of experience in the tax field, José is a specialist in the taxation of high net worth individuals and family businesses, with extensive experience in intergenerational planning, in taxation related to changes of residence, including the validation and adaptation of foreign investment structures to Spanish law to eliminate tax inefficiencies, and in the design of remuneration plans. In this area of taxation, he also advises financial institutions on the taxation of their investment products and structures.

He has also led numerous cases in tax litigation and procedural matters (tax audits, tax consultations and tax litigation at all administrative and contentious-administrative levels). His wide range of expertise also covers accounting regulations.

José is very committed to the firm’s activities in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, where he has been involved in advising numerous non-profit organisations on the tax regime applicable to their activities.

Academic and Publishing Collaborations

José has published numerous articles related to his practice area in the press and specialised publications, and has collaborated in coordinating and writing numerous texts, including the various editions of the book “Jurisprudencia casacional en materia tributaria”.

Since 2020, he has been an associate lecturer at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he teaches on the Master’s degree for Access to the Legal Profession and on the “Expert in Corporate Governance and M&A Transactions” course. He has also contributed to various courses and sessions organised by the School of Legal Practice of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
